Projects and events
The main project of the moment is the Parish Plan. A Parish Plan is a community consultation exercise, and an opportunity for us to look at our concerns and interests, eventually producing a document that lays out the issues raised and the desired outcomes. It is important to remember that the Plan will not be simply a reference document - it should be reviewed and revised as the area changes over the years.

BALSAM BASHING
Himalayan Balsam growing along the banks of streams and rivers is something of a menace. It is highly invasive and tends to take over areas near watercourses, stranngling the native vegetation. The nett result is that when the balsam dies down in autumn/winter the riverbanks are left unprotected and are thus easily eroded . . . and then flooding can occur.
The plant spreads its territory through explosive seeds that land locally or are sometimes carried downstream. To help protect the banks volunteers are asked to spend an hour or two pulling up the balsam before the seedpods form - usually during June-July, and even into August.

CHILDREN'S PLAY AREA
Work on refurbishing the play area on the Playing Fields (next to Back Lane) has at last been completed, so children are welcome to go along and try out the new equipment in safe surroundings. Enjoy yourselves!
Great thanks are due to David Zirker for pulling together the funding and marshalling the company installing the equipment.
Eve Rohl, who sadly passed away in August 2010, was a prime instigator of the project, having identified the potential source that eventually provided the funds for this major project in the village.
