EDDC Councillor, Val Ranger
It is with great sadness that I must report the passing of District Councillor, Val Ranger after a long and valiant struggle against cancer.
I have known Val for around 10 years - many of you will have known her longer - and, in my opinion, Val was a wonderful person who cared passionately for the Parish, the environment and the community as a whole.
She worked extremely hard - much of it unseen by the general public - in her roles, formerly as a Parish Councillor but latterly as an incredibly diligent and approachable District Councillor. Perhaps the depth and detail of her monthly reports in the Parish Magazine gave people some idea of the work that she undertook.
I personally worked with Val on the East Devon Highways & Traffic Orders Committee meeting on 22nd July where, despite obviously being very poorly, she made valuable contributions to the cause of improving highway safety in the Parish, smiling throughout.
She is a terrible loss to the community. In my opinion all our lives just got a little bit poorer. My heartfelt condolences go out to her sons and wider family at this difficult time.
