Neighbourhood Plan 2019-31
July 2021
On 18th June 2021, East Devon District Council formally
decided to adopt the Neighbourhood
Plan for Newton Poppleford and Harpford part
of the Development Plan for East Devon.
This means that the Plan will now carry full weight in the planning
decision process.

A referendum on the adoption of the Neighbourhood
Plan was held in the parish on the 6th May 2021.

March 2021
After a long delay caused by the Covid pandemic, you will at last be
able to vote on our Neighbourhood Plan on Thursday 6th May 2021.
If our Neighbourhood Plan is voted in, East Devon County Council
and the Government will be obliged to take our local requirements
into account with future planning applications.

January 2021
In September 2020 the Newton Poppleford and Harpford Neighbourhood Plan was
updated in line with "the examiner's" recommendations to form a ‘Referendum Version’
It's now reached the stage where a referendum would usually be held but due to Covid
restrictions the referendum has been delayed until at least May 2021.
In the meantime, the Plan now carries significant weight in decision making on planning
applications in the parish of Newton Poppleford and Harpford.

The Newton Poppleford and Harpford Neighbourhood Plan
was updated following the 2020 public consultation.

Between 18th March and 1st May 2020 EDDC are inviting
comments on the updated Neighbourhood Plan. If you would
like to make a representation, please send your comments by
email to planningpolicy@eastdevon.gov.uk using the Comment

Update FEBRUARY 2020
The REVISED draft Neighbourhood Plan is available from the Clerk.
Council will consider the revisions at their February meeting.
Council approved the draft Neighbourhood Plan on the 24th February 2020.

The parish consultation of the draft neighbourhood plan will commence
on 1st November and end on the 14th December. The document can be

and what you don’t like about the plan.

Update June 2019
The draft Neighbourhood Plan has been submitted to the Parish
Council for their review. It's anticipated that the plan will be submitted
to East Devon District Council on 1st July and following their review
will be issued to residents for consultation in September 2019.

UPDATE:
Following the recent analysis of Questionnaire responses, another short
consultation is taking place to find out what STYLES OF HOUSING people
want (and don't want) to see in the Parish if new housing is authorised in

Any new volunteers to help with the NHP would be very welcome; in particular
we’re due to start writing policies and anyone who’s interested and experienced

The Meeting planned for 24/03/15 had to be cancelled due to conflicts of commitments of the Parish Councillors involved. The meeting has been rescheduled for 14th May 2015 at The Cannon Inn, starting at 8.00pm in the skittle alley.
